Hi, I’m Whitney! HoneyPieLion lived as an idea in the back of my mind for many years, surfacing in various camps, birthday parties, school lessons and PTA events for over 20 years before it began to come to life as an independent business in 2026.

HoneyPieLion’s mission is to create a positive and welcoming environment where individuals of all skill levels can explore their creativity through simple, hands-on craft workshops, creating meaningful keepsake projects using sustainable materials.

For me, crafting has always been about slowing down and finding joy in creating something new. My favorite crafts have been the ones I’ve done with friends or with a group. I love watching how everyone can have the same materials and same instructions, but come up with completely unique pieces. Watching others create, share ideas and resources, and come together around the simple act of making is deeply inspirational.

So many aspects of our lives are coated in plastic, from our food to our clothes to our craft supplies. When I craft, I work to reuse materials as often as possible, waste as little as I can, and choose the most sustainable products I can find. I try my best to design projects focused on cardboard, paper, cotton, wood, and other natural materials.

Crafting is also an opportunity to learn and practice new skills. Crafting requires hand-eye coordination, planning, problem solving, and, above all, patience. On top of those universal skills, more specific skills such as sewing, tiling, diagramming, calculating measurements, and considering symmetry are useful in myriad ways across our entire lives. In my classes, I strive to provide opportunities to grow practical skills while we create beautiful and enjoyable projects that we’ll be proud to display.
